Haloa – Genealogy the foundation of learning Olelo

Eia mai ka manawa kupono no ka holomua ana i ka haawina olelo!  Now is the right time to move forward with learning our beloved Hawaiian Language!  We now sponsor a beginners class in Hawaiian Language Class on Monday’s at Hanalei Pavilion from 600 to 700 pm.  There is no charge at this time for classes but gratuity is welcome, so we can pay for copying and kumu’s time to create curriculum.  We start with the important study of Haloa, the elder brother to Kanaka.  In these first 4 lessons we learn about the importance of genealogy in the context of restoring kalo and auwai in Halelea and Napali.  Hele wale mai, come, sit, and learn how to recite your genealogy in Hawaiian & some Oli (chants) aligned with growing kalo and restoring auwai.  E Ola Mau Ka Olelo Hawaii!
