Kamealoha and Kaimi represented the island of Kauai at Ocean Observation Conference in Honolulu in September 2019. 51 Pacific Rim Native Groups were invited to work with their western counterparts to discuss improving the overall management of ocean resources through sharing ocean observing systems, advocacy, funding, and best practices. Kaimi shared his experiences related to his visits to Mauna Kea and Kamealoha got a chance to talk about the Foundations Youth Ocean Monitoring Program, Kiai Kai. Kiai Kai will start workshops for youth in the summer 2020 .
