The next generation of plants are beginning the sprout! We just started planting along the river bank on the Hanalei side to replace a lot of the hau that cut back with other appropriate plants. We are going with huli in the marshy areas, some kind of grass covering on the sides, and ti leaf at the top of the bank. We don’t have a sprinkler system in place so we are having to fill buckets with water from the faucet & then hand carry the buckets to the plants on the streambank. Hopefully soon we’ll have some kind of temporary system in place so the plants on the streambank will receive the water they need to ulu maikai (grow). E Ola!
